LEF New England launched the Moving Image Fund (MIF) in 2002 to support independent film and video artists creating new work.Through MIF, LEF provides funding across all phases of production, supporting films from the early risk-taking stage, through a film's completion.

Film Synopsis

A narrative about 16 year-old América who is sent to Buenos Aires, Argentina to live with her reclusive and anti-American grandmother. After a life-changing event, América is sent to Buenos Aires, to live with her grandmother, Lucía América Campos. In Argentina, América struggles to find her place with a grandmother she has never known and to hold onto a friendship with Sergio, a neighbor twice her age.

About the Director(s)

Raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina and the US, Cristina Kotz Cornejo is an independent filmmaker. She has screened at over 15 venues nationally and internationally, ranging from Montevideo, Uruguay to San Francisco to New York City. Cristina received her M.F.A. from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, an M.A. in Organizational Management from Antioch University and her B.A. from the University of Southern California. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College in Boston.
